At Gammonwood we have spent over 16 years living with and studying the Mastiff breed, learning about their origins,
their historic uses and what it is that constitutes an all-round, sound Mastiff.

We have endeavored to trace the Mastiffs footsteps throughout history and have filmed historic sites, castles and nobles houses
long associated with the breed.
We have interviewed breed specialists, acclaimed authors, international judges, breed historians, collectors, breeders and exhibitors
and have filmed and produced Mastiff specialty shows and short film expose's on the Mastiff breed.

 

Much of our work is still ongoing and some of it can be viewed on the Gammonwood channel at YouTube.

We are primarily breed enthusiasts and sometimes breeders. All of our current Mastiffs come from Champion English,
American and Australian bloodlines and possess many excellent traits and features that we hope to always retain through our breedings.
We do not however, consider any of our Mastiffs to be faultless.
We always strive for improvement.

Our ideal dog is a large impressive Mastiff that comes as close as possible in looks to the Breed Standard.
A Mastiff that is sound, good natured, inquisitive, kind, gentle, loyal, protective and can move freely and effortlessly
with confidence and courage.

We hip and elbow score our dogs and take into account the environmental factors that can affect test scores and the structural soundness of the breed as a whole.
To help ensure that we have big, healthy adult Mastiffs we keep our puppies lean and endeavor to grow them as slowly as possible.
For maximum nutritional benefit we feed a raw, biologically appropriate diet.

We do not breed often and when placing our puppies we choose loving homes
that are best able to provide for the needs of a Giant Breed Dog.
